What is Ophthalmology?
Ophthalmology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of vision problems and diseases of the eye. Eye health is not only a matter of visual acuity; structures such as the optic nerve and retina can be damaged without causing any symptoms.
For this reason, regular eye examinations are recommended beyond a certain age, and in conditions such as diabetes, even when there are no complaints.
